Our Class Wiki - So Far

I started my wiki with new media is our new culture. But in the beginning of my term paper I changed my topic to New Media and Health Care, which I found more interesting then other topics. This paper shows how new media is reshaping the health care system. Nowadays, many doctors prefer using new media communication tools to communicate with patients. For many, “Hello Health” is one of the newly built systems that will replace the old ones in the U.S. There is no doubt that new media will change the health care system and will begin a new era for health care. I hope to share such a information to my peers to gain knowledge.

BLOG: P2P

File sharing is the usage of or capability to transmit files or documents from one computer to another computer through a network system or from the internet. P2P stands for peer-to-peer sharing, which is allow the user to access the digital media, such as books, musics, movies, and so on. It helps searchers to find desire content. Which can be big issue to the issuer, developer, or the provider. It came to attention when people started using P2P file to find free copies movies that are still in the theaters. The NY Times published an article about digital pirates winning battle with studios, which shows many example of P2P sharing. They mentioned, "using a peer to peer technology called BitTorrent, required patience and modicum of sophistication by users. Now, users don't even have to download." User will be able to watch new released movies, unlimited TV shows.

BLOG:ADVICE

First able, I would start with criticizing the Baruch College in usage of New Media. I would recommend, the college should allow the students to access electronic device, so student stay connected with professor through New Media in class time as well. Some students are really shy and others might not be able to speak as well as they write.  If the school allow Twitter, group chat in Facebook, or other kind of New Media to express their feeling thought through new media then may be those shy and self-conscious students will have the chance to participate in the class. I remember reading an article in this class about a professor encourage students to pass notes in class via Twitter. The article also mentioned it was encouraging the student to raise the topic out loud. Off-course few will embezzle this opportunity, but the good students will always do the right thing.

BLOG: CREATIVITY AND NEW MEDIA

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7LX3GsFwkk

This video was created in 2009, when my oldest son Aqib was 3 years old. In order to upload this video on YouTube, first I logged into the site, then I uploaded the video from my desktop. The interesting part was when YouTube suggested to edit my video because of the shakiness.  I agreed YouTube edit it for better quality purpose. It took almost 10 minutes. Afterwards it gave me option to save it. And WALA....the video was uploaded.

BLOG: CREATIVITY

Creativity comes from original ideas or within our imagination. People can be more creative with combination of external materials as well as internal materials. Simply it means you can be creative within your reach or out side of your reach. This topic would be focusing on external material. For example, the New York Times published an article about "Disney Tolerates a Rap Parody of Its Critters. But Why?"  In which a rapper boy name Soulja Boy created a mashup YouTube video "Crank That" song, where he used Disney animated characters like Winey the Poo and SpongeBob SquarePants characters from Nickelodeon to create his rap song and publish on YouTube. It is illegal act, because according to Disney's copyright content, the company can sue anyone who copy their material or property without their permission. In this case they could have sued YouTube for property theft, since YouTube allowed the video to be published without Disney's authorization. In this rear situation Disney didn't do anything about it. Matter effect the corporate has $1 billion dollars of pending lawsuit against Google (YouTube's owner) for other issues. Yet, they let it go for this matter, because the song was global phenomena. It reached out to those part of the world where Disney or Nickelodeon wouldn't be able to reach without the new media like YouTube. It had 7 million of viewers for the song "Crank That" and it was No. 1 song of the Billboard top 100 hot songs chart. Therefore, it shows how people can be creative through external material.
